7. Does NewMindsets have its own online chat-room with live facilitators?

No. The system has a Bulletin Board feature that allows asynchronous discussion on every learning topic. This provides a good organization-wide forum for idea sharing, questions and knowledge exchange. Every learner is also able to share their Notebooks with selected colleagues, coaches, course instructors, etc., if they wish. Our experience is that live chat-line technology, though effective for short focused messaging, does not always suit more open-ended or reflective learning. Asynchronous technologies are often better suited here because learners can really think about what they want to contribute and how they can add value. However, many of our clients like to use their existing communications infrastructure to provide chat-rooms, project-rooms and other technologies to support specific learning, along with face-to-face team meetings, email exchange, teleconferencing or videoconferencing.

By using their own coaches, mentors or instructors they can also be certain that discussions are grounded in a knowledge of the actual context in which the learner's new learning is to be applied. The granular structure of the NewMindsets learning materials is ideally suited for generating well-focused conversations.
